I just saw Asobi Seksu - and it was amazing.
I just saw my first shoegaze show. They rock hard, they’re loud and they have spirit. When I got off work to go to the 7th St Entry, I saw a ton of Asians and hipsters. The first band was a Peruvian Shoegaze band called Resplandor. They were very ambient. They were very electronic and ambient, and they had an amazing vocalist. The kind that would makes you think of Elizabeth Fraser of The Cocteau Twins. Then there was this ambient Bjork inspired trip hop band called Bell… they were alright. Then Asobi Seksu got up, and it was nothing but energy, skygazing instrument mayhem. The bass was insane, the guitar was insane, the drums was insane and the synths were also insane!
It might have been the best live show I’ve seen so far; it was loud, epic, energetic and heartfelt.
